This is a very special post for us that we have wanted to write for a long time. After a year with many changes (due to Covid-19), we decided to buy a utility vehicle to travel by RV in America. As soon as we found the right RV that we like on ZeRVs, we realized that our dream is becoming a reality.
For those who do not know, at the beginning of 2020, we renounce our lives in a dependent relationship to travel the world.
The original idea was to start our trip through Spain, tour part of Europe, and continue traveling around the world, without a return date. We had to cancel that idea due to the pandemic and we changed it to travel in Motorhome in America (and who knows if we will continue later and where).
Although it seems simple in text, it took a long time to make this decision.
Around the world that was not.
Our trip began on March 29 with a direct flight from Buenos Aires to Barcelona by the low-cost airline Level, part of the Iberia group. We had gotten two very cheap tickets and we were leaving with only carry-on bags and a lot of dreams to fulfill.
Although it seemed easy in the text, it was a decision that took us a long time to make. We had to overcome many obstacles, fears, and barriers of all kinds, personal, work, family, etc.
In January 2019 we took a Motorhome trip along the West Coast that definitely marked us. It made us realize that 20 days were not enough for us to travel and we wanted to do it permanently, at a slower pace, getting to know cultures, people and getting even deeper into places.
That same year, David was accepted as a Lawyer, and the token fell to us that it was time to go out into the world and fulfill our dreams.
With travel in mind, we set out to save every penny we could. To our jobs in a dependency relationship, we add a third joint job, selling trips remotely to Almundo.
We worked every day until late at night, sacrificing weekends and outings to save money and make our sleep possible.
In September 2019 we found Level’s offer and without hesitation, we bought the tickets to travel in March 2020. After a few months, we quit our jobs, Martín managed to get compensated after 10 years working for the same company and we sold the car that we had.
An unexpected trip to Brazil.
At the beginning of March, while we were fully preparing for our trip around the world, we received an invitation that took us by surprise. To make matters worse, here in Mexico, the Covid pandemic was still a distant event and the government assured that there was no way for it to arrive.
In this context, with emotions running high for the upcoming trip, Gol Airlines invited us to visit one of its destinations. There is no doubt that as long as we choose a place where we can spend a few days in Mexico, get to know each other and relax.
Don’t tell us that everything we were living didn’t seem like a dream. We felt that everything was going well.
On March 16, days before the total quarantine by Covid was declared in Mexico, still, in Arizona, we received an email from Iberia. We knew that the chances of the trip being postponed were real and probable, but we kept dreaming that everything would get better and we could travel.
The email from Iberia left us speechless. In a few lines and without many details, they informed us that our flight to Barcelona was canceled and that we had to request a voucher to redeem later.
At that time, even in Mexico, our entire beautiful panorama became a sea of doubts.
On the fly, we were able to renew the rent of the apartment in which we lived, although, after a few months, we were forced to leave it and go live for a few months with David’s parents.
In this difficult context, with no jobs (all the blog and our work in Almundo was based on tourism …) or a clear horizon, we continued to see what to do with our future.
From Iberia, they had induced us to accept a voucher at first, with which we were not enough to buy a new ticket. When we wanted to reschedule the trip, they did not allow it, and months later, after many complaints, we got a refund of the money in Argentine pesos (yes, we know … but something is something).
We asked for a refund because we had to invest more money on the ticket and we don’t know when to travel. Monday’s newspaper was the best solution.
New directions.
A few months later, without a ticket to Europe, we saw an opportunity in this crisis, which has been plagued (and will continue to be plagued) like all of us for months.
We like to believe that everything happens for something, that the universe, for everything it takes from us, gives us something.
We spent whole days analyzing possibilities with a single certainty: We wanted to go out to know the world without dates or limitations. And among all those options that we were thinking about, we remembered a lot of the trip we made to the West Coast of the USA in an RV.
We believe that in the new global context, RV travel will be one of the opportunities to gain momentum, so we decided to find a utility company that can meet our needs, but did not make a decision. …(Elegant and obviously not expensive).

Our mechanic went to see the van in Phoenix and told us to go ahead, so without hesitation, we bought the van!
We are currently customizing the RV with our own hands and will soon hit the road. We are going to share the entire computerization process step by step on the blog.
