Top Places to Travel in the US for Asian Americans [Part 1]

Though any tourist destination can be interesting for Asian Americans, we analyzed the demography of all the states and came up with our list of the cities with the largest Asian populations. Bigger Asian communities also mean more people with similar interests, languages, culture, food, and even more opportunities for Asian dating with those who understand you better than anyone else.

1. Fremont, CA

The Asian population in Fremont has recently increased a lot (by 24%) and now constitutes about 57% of the total state’s population. One of the reasons to visit Fremont as a tourist is a fact that it had a tremendous influence on the development of Hollywood. The city has many attractions to offer to a traveler. First, if you are interested in the story of filmmaking, go to the Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum and see how it all started. Second, Fremont is a truly perfect place for contemplating nature. Take a romantic stroll in Central Park enjoying the views of Lake Elizabeth. Or visit the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge. It was established to protect fascinating wildlife and endangered species of California. You can walk along delightful hiking trails, or even try kayaking and fishing.

2. Urban Honolulu, HI

Honolulu is the second Asian city in America by population. The percentage of Asian Americans living here is 50%. Whether you are Asian or not, Hawaii is a very popular tourist destination that can attract everyone with its white sand and blue sky. What are the must-visits of Honolulu? Manoa Falls, a 150-foot waterfall, is not only natural beauty but also a film-start that appeared on the screen in Jurassic Park and The Hunger Games. The magnificent Iolani Palace Is also worth a visit as it is also the only royal palace ever built on the US territory. If you have ever dreamt of quitting your job and moving to a tropical heaven, then you should definitely go to Waikiki, a Honolulu neighborhood. Another spot that is definitely worth visiting is the Diamond Head, one of the famous Hawaii volcanoes.

3. Sunnyvale, CA

Another city that has a large Asian population is Sunnyvale. Asian Americans comprise 44%of all the residents here. Sunnyvale is located close to Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada, however, the city itself is also a nice place to visit. The area is known for sustainable farming, so you will find here a lot of quality things sold in the farmers’ market. Being here, we suggest you visit the picturesque Las Palmas Park, Baylands Park, and famous CJ Olson Cherries. You can also check out the Lace museum, which tells an interesting story of lace making. And the Sunnyvale Bay Trail will give you a great hiking experience along the coast. 

4. Santa Clara, CA

Santa Clara is also worth a visit for Asian people. The Asian community here constitutes about 41% of the total population, which is about 126 thousand people. Santa Clara is famous for its parks and art. You can start your Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum. Its rich collection of Egyptian art has incredible pieces remaining from the Nile civilization, such as a ring belonging to Tutankhamun from 1,323BCE. After a scenic walk in the city, head for the theme park or the South Bay Shores Waterpark to have a lot of fun and get the wind in your hair. At the end of the day, you can enjoy dinner at a Korean restaurant that serves very tasty dishes. 

5. Irvine, CA

The fifth on our top is Irvine, the city with about 40% of Asian people out of 272 thousand citizens. Filipino and Korean communities are particularly big here. Irvine is well-known for the Orange County Great Park. An air station for the Marine Corps in its past, today it is a famous park with the Balloon, Farm and Food Lab, and Art Complex. If you have kids, they will be happy to go to the Pretend City Children’s Museum. Here you can wait for role-playing, hands-on exhibits, educational programs, and an imagination playground. Another great farming attraction is the Tanaka Farms, which offers farm tours with produce tasting.
