Admissions Information and Procedure

I.Please call to attend an or school tour.

cand submit all forms along with $75 application fee to Greenwood School by January 30. (For applicants applying later in the year, please submit forms immediately as classes will fill up and families will be accepted on a first come basis.)

General minimum age guidelines by July 1st of 2009:
Kindergarten - 4 1/2 yrs.	4th Grade – 9 yrs.
1st Grade - 6 yrs.	5th Grade – 10 yrs.
2nd Grade - 7 yrs.	6th Grade – 11 yrs.
3rd Grade – 8 yrs.	7th Grade – 12 yrs.
	8th Grade – 13 yrs.

III. Please give Teacher Recommendation form to your child’s current teacher. Please expedite this step as we cannot process your application without this form. Your teacher will mail this form directly to Greenwood School. If this creates an awkward situation for you, please contact our admissions office at 415.380.0830.

IV. Once we receive your Application, Parent Introduction and Teacher Recommendation form, we will call you to schedule an interview with you and your child, a faculty member and possibly a member of the admissions committee.

Kindergarten Process: For classes with openings, children and their parents will be invited to meet with the kindergarten teachers. Parents will interview with the teachers in the kindergarten classroom while the children play.

Grade School Process: For classes with openings, applicants and their parents will be invited to interview with the class teacher. After the interview, the student applicant will be invited for several visiting days in the classroom. Applicants will be notified by mail of their acceptance. We currently have openings in Grades 5, 6 and 7 for the 2008-09 school year. Please call for information about current openings in other grades.

V. Families will be notified of acceptance by March 12th. (If you are applying to the school after the application date, you will be notified once your application and interview have been completed).
